Sculpture Talk: James Capper

The fifth in a series of talks exploring sculptural practice today, celebrating the Year of Sculpture in the run up to Yorkshire Sculpture International in summer 2019.

In February 2019, James Capper spoke at Leeds Art Gallery about his work which is informed by his ongoing interest in mechanical engineering, industrial processes, insect and animal anatomy and locomotion.

In 2009 Capper won The Jack Goldhill Prize for Sculpture at the Royal Academy of Arts and in 2011 he won the Royal Society of British Sculptors Bursary Award.

Capper (b.1987 in London) lives and works in London and studied at the Royal College of Art. He has exhibited widely in the UK and internationally. In 2013 he was an artist in residence at Longside Gallery and had a solo exhibition in the Bothy Gallery at the Yorkshire Sculpture Park.
