Leeds-based Reet So (Alice Withers) produces socially engaged experiences in the public realm. Using spatial design, graphic design and prop making, she creates participatory structures and installations. Her work is often site-specific, exploring urban narratives within the context of people and place.
For Yorkshire Sculpture International, Alice worked with Year 10 and Year 12 students from Minsthorpe Community College, Wakefield, to investigate youth voice and how to create advocates for sculpture in their local community.
Yorkshire Sculpture International 2019 had an extensive engagement programme, working with schools, universities, communities and artists.
We explored sculpture with people of all ages, connecting them with the materials and processes used in making sculpture today and showing how sculpture can be found all around us.
