The Hepworth Wakefield acquires new body of work by Rosanne Robertson

We are delighted that a successful application to the Contemporary Art Society’s Rapid Response Fund has enabled The Hepworth Wakefield to acquire a new body of work by our 2019 Associate Artist, Rosanne Robertson (b. Sunderland, 1984).

“I am very pleased to have my new body of work,Packing, acquired for the Hepworth Wakefield collection with the support of the Contemporary Art Society. The Hepworth Wakefield and Yorkshire Sculpture International have played a vital role in the journey of my practice which has taken me from West Yorkshire to West Cornwall and making this new body of work within and inspired by the coastal landscape of St Ives whilst based at Porthmeor Studios Jan-June 2020.

I have worked site specifically in both Yorkshire and Cornwall whilst expanding ideas around gender fluidity and the Queer body in the land/seascape. It was due to the support of Yorkshire Sculpture International and partner organisations, including The Hepworth Wakefield and Yorkshire Sculpture Park, that I was able to develop new ways of working and follow the inspiration of the Cornish landscape in order to make this new body of work.”

Rosanne’s new work will be on display at The Hepworth Wakefield in November 2020.
