Alice Chandler

Alice Chandler (b. 1993, Leeds) is an artist currently living and working in Leeds. Her practice explores the intersection between art, craft and design. She creates sculptural objects and, often site-specific, installations that build narrative and interrogate our relationship with the domestic, functional and wearable. Utilising a wide range of craft processes, from silversmithing and glasswork to printing, sewing and embroidery, she makes objects that, dependent on display and context, can be at once sculptural, functional or decorative.

Chandler graduated from Edinburgh College of Art BA Sculpture in 2015 and was selected for the Tetley Artist’s Associate Programme 2018/19. Recent exhibitions include: Sitting Show, East Bristol Contemporary; Encountering Objects, Encountering Place, Assembly House, Leeds; Mantel, Copperfield Gallery, London; General Studies, Outpost, Norwich, and Lick and a Promise, The Trophy Room, Royal Standard Liverpool. She was shortlisted for Jerwood 3Phase in 2017 and selected for RSA New Contemporaries, and the HIX Prize exhibition in 2016.
