James Thompson’s work deals with the perception of space and its interpretation, working across physical and digital media using pre-existing spatial situations as the starting point recorded and reinterpreted to construct new multi-dimensional experiences of reality.
Thompson graduated from the Royal College of Art in 2012, subsequent exhibitions include: Expanding Spaces at Marsden Woo Gallery, London; Inflated Space III at Project Space East Street Arts, Leeds; Parallel Architectures IIIII at Leeds Town Hall as part of INDEX Festival during the Yorkshire Sculpture International 2019. Artist-in-residencies at: Cove Park, Hospitalfield Arts both in Scotland and Leeds Art Gallery. Film screenings include: Emergency Defence Exercise Video at Whitechapel Gallery, London and Self-Digitalisation as part of Pavilion Artists’ Moving Image Network Screening Weekend at Hyde Park Picture House, Leeds.
