Lauren Wilson (b. Hull) is a visual artist working in the North of England. Within her work Wilson regularly looks to the past, following historical lines of enquiry, in order to better understand or contest the present. The work often centres around the feminine experience, and explores the subtleties of what it is to be human: our subconscious connections to history; place or each other. Working across drawing, text and sculpture her work explores ideas of Objecthood, considering how objects and material goods hold agency as instruments of communication.
Wilson has recently taken part in shows at the Heong Gallery (Cambridge), Artlink (Hull) and 155A Gallery (Dulwich). Aside from her own practice she works as an Artist Educator and Facilitator within museums, galleries and other cultural organisations.
