22 June – 21 July, closed on Mondays
Conrad Shawcross comes to Halifax with a stunning installation of his sculpture ‘Chord’ at Dean Clough and accompanying exhibition at The Piece Hall.
The installation in the mill’s former Jute shed, consists of two large machines holding 324 spools of coloured cord. As the machines slowly retreat from each other they weave a thick, brightly coloured rope.
The Piece Hall gallery houses thoughtful drawings, plans and artefacts of Chord and other works that deal with Shawcross’s continued investigation into philosophy, geometry, physics and metaphysics.
Launch – 22 June, 19.30 – 21.00
Come and see the installation being switched on.
Opening speech by Clare Lilley, Director of Programme, Yorkshire Sculpture Park
Refreshments will be served. A minibus will operate to and from Halifax train station, pick up from 19.00 and return trips from 21.00.
The Jute Shed is reached by a 5 minute walk from Dean Clough’s car parks.
