EVER is Nika Neelova’s first solo exhibition in a public gallery in the UK which will present new and existing work by the Russian-born artist. This ambitious sculptural exhibition will respond to, and be in dialogue with, The Tetley’s unique art deco architecture.
Often utilising reclaimed architectural materials, Neelova is interested in the way materials and architecture influence our sense of time and place. Her sculptures are created by employing tactics of ‘reverse archaeology’ – considering an alternative reading of human history by examining found objects and architectural debris, and transforming them beyond functionality. In these works the human body and touch remain as vestigial memory.
Launch: Thursday 20 June, 18.00 – 20.00
A night of speeches, complimentary drinks and the first official viewing of the exhibitions. Free, all welcome.
Breakfast viewing: Saturday 22 June, 9.00 – 11.00
Please RSVP to RSVP@thetetley.org by Monday 10 June with any dietary requirements.
