Sculptural works by seven women artists from the Material Voice collective: Heliya Badakhshan, Gillian Brent, Mandy Gamsu, Seiko Kinoshita, Kate Langrish-Smith, Clee Claire Lee and Sarah Villeneau will be amongst the displays at Kelham Island Museum, Sheffield.

The work on display responds to artefacts and stories from the Museum’s displays and collections, giving them new perspectives and interpretations.

Workshops

Crochet a wire vessel
22 September, 10 – 4
£50.00, 10 places
Think about and connect with items in the museum, share stories and make discoveries while learning to crochet with wire with sculptors Clee Claire Lee and Gillian Brent. Take away a completed vessel at the end of the day.

Clay lamination
23 September, 10 – 12.30
£25.00, 10 places
Using a museum artefact as the starting point for the exploration of materials, we will use several different coloured clays, including a local unrefined Sheffield clay, to create marbled and laminated effects for vessels and sculptural jewellery. Led by sculptors Sarah Villeneau and Kate Langrish-Smith.
