The University of Leeds was founded in 1904, but its origins go back to the nineteenth century with the founding of the Leeds School of Medicine in 1831 and then the Yorkshire College of Science in 1874.

The Cultural Institute has three main aims: to increase pioneering research collaborations with creative sector partners, to widen cultural engagement and participation and to build the skills of our students.

University of Leeds will host a series of public seminars during the festival including one with YSI artist Huma Bhabha that will explore the role of sculpture in the public realm, and further events that will look at the role of technology in sculpture.
