We have partnered with Corridor8 to produce ‘In Your Hands’, a new digital publication focussing on the festival’s engagement programme. With contributions from our Engagement Curator Meghan Goodeve, Corridor8’s Managing Editor Lara Eggleton and writer and artist Jennifer Boyd.
Starting with the concept of ‘material literacy’, Yorkshire Sculpture International’s engagement programme sought to communicate and enact particular kinds of knowledge and learning that can only be gleaned through physical processes, and that are often sidelined in favour of the ocular.
With ‘In Your Hands’ there is a rare opportunity to reflect on the nature of arts engagement with criticality and expertise, paying close and careful attention to an area of contemporary programming that is rarely considered with the same depth as exhibitions.
Yorkshire Sculpture International has an extensive engagement programme, spanning education, community collaborations and artist support.
We explore sculpture with people of all ages, connecting them with the materials and processes used in making sculpture today and showing how sculpture can be found all around us. We are currently working with a group of 25 artists across Yorkshire as part of our 2022 Sculpture Network.
